Practices are made for teaching healthy food preparation and cooking applications considering with food hygiene in Principles of Nutrition Laboratory which is one of the Gazi University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. There are all devices and equipments for practices in our laboratory.
In this laboratory, consolidation of theoretical background is provided with certain practices for food groups taught in theoretical lessons. Thus, students are given the opportunity to learn the purpose of the practice, aim of the practice, observations about cooking, healthy cooking methods and effect of the foods on meal’s structure, appearance and nutrient status. These subjects are discussed in detail at the end of the practices.
