The Gazi University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Department of Public Health, and the Turkish Red Crescent successfully held a symposium titled "Nutrition Services Management in Disasters."
The symposium was chaired by our Institute of Health Sciences Director, Prof. Dr. Saniye Bilici. The program addressed topics such as nutrition planning, coordination, logistics management, treatment methods for vulnerable groups, and the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in disaster situations, aiming to bring together academic and field applications.
Seven faculty members from our department participated in the symposium, and four faculty members actively served as session chairs; significant contributions were made regarding the fundamentals of nutritional care in disasters, field experiences, and current practices.
The symposium, which emphasized disaster preparedness and a comprehensive evidence-based care registry, provided support for inter-institutional collaboration and regional academic-practical reporting.
