Accreditation

Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences applied for the accreditation of its Department of Nutrition and Dietetics by submitting a letter of intent to the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Health Sciences Educational Programs (SABAK) on March 19, 2018. In a response letter sent on April 17, 2018, by Prof. Dr. Afsun Ezel Esatoğlu, Chair of the SABAK Board of Directors, it was announced that the SABAK national accreditation evaluation process for the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics had officially commenced.

The initial informational meeting regarding the process was held on July 11, 2018, by Prof. Dr. Özlem Ülger, Chair of the Accreditation Commission (SAK), with the participation of the department's faculty members and staff. Efforts within the department toward achieving accreditation began on March 31, 2019, and gained momentum following an informational meeting held on April 15, 2019, by Prof. Dr. Afsun Ezel Esatoğlu regarding the self-evaluation report preparation and the accreditation process.

Following a site visit conducted by SABAK on December 15–17, 2019, it was announced on March 13, 2020, that the department had qualified for accreditation valid until September 30, 2025 (a five-year term). Following the re-accreditation evaluation process conducted in 2025, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences has been re-accredited by SABAK for the period of March 20, 2025, to September 30, 2030. Thus, our department has successfully maintained its national accreditation, upholding a commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement in its educational activities.
